Is It Ok To Consume 250-300 Grams Of Chicken Meat Per Day?
Q) Akash, is it ok to consume 250-300 grams of chicken meat per day? Is it too much? I go to the gym. Thanks!
It really depends. I have been eating chicken almost daily off lately. Here are some of my meal pictures:
This is close to 250–300 grams of chicken (excluding the bones). Here’s another meal:
This is close to 350g grams.
I also go to the gym, and my caloric intake is pretty low at this stage. In fact, I am just consuming close to 1800 calories.
So to answer your question: Is consuming 250–300g of chicken too much?
Well, it depends.
Firstly, I eat only two main meals a day, plus 1–2 light snacks. These meals have close to 800–900 calories (chicken is with skin, so there is a lot of fat, unlike chicken breast, which is pure protein).
My first meal is usually eggs or oats, which is also close to 600–700 calories and then eat a few hundred calories from the snacks. This way, I reach my total caloric target.
Conclusion
If eating this much chicken still allows you to stay within your calorie intake, then, by all means, go ahead. Just make sure to include a lot of salads in your overall diet, as chicken has no fiber, and you need other key micronutrients too!
Hope this helps.
