How I Healed My Injury (without surgery)—Using the Ancient Wisdom of the Wood Element

In December 2022, during one of my regular weight training sessions, I experienced something that would completely shift the way I approached healing.

I’ve been lifting weights for over 20 years, and despite years of heavy lifting, I’d never had any serious injury.

That day, however, something went wrong. While pressing 30 kg dumbbells during a chest workout (something I’d done countless times before), a sharp pain shot through my right tricep.

I dropped the weights immediately.

I knew this wasn’t just a minor strain.

Major Change

The Injury That Changed Everything

Weeks passed. Then two months.

And the pain didn’t go away.

I couldn’t do a single push-up. For someone like me, the gym isn’t just a workout, it’s therapy.

It’s structure. It’s my release.

Without it, I started feeling stuck. Irritable. Angry , for no clear reason.

When the Emotion Is the Messenger

At the time, I was deep into studying the Five Element Framework, part of a larger system

I’ve developed called the Elemental Organ-Balance System (EOB System).

This framework draws from Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and the Acid-Alkaline model, combining them into a modern, practical system for holistic healing.

By the way, if you’d like a free PDF guide that explains the EOB System in detail, just click here ‘EOB’.

Through this lens, I realized something powerful: I was experiencing a Wood Element imbalance — emotionally, mentally, and physically.

According to the Five Elements, Wood energy governs our vision, purpose, and capacity to move forward.

When imbalanced, it manifests as impatience… which builds into irritability, frustration, and eventually anger or resentment.

And that’s exactly what I was going through.

The physical injury was in my tricep tendon. But the emotional pain was deeper:

✅ I had just come off a major success on Udemy — but felt lost about what was next.

✅ I was trying to juggle too many niches.

✅ I was posting daily on Instagram with little response.

✅ I dreamed of launching long-form YouTube videos — but I had no time or creative energy left.

✅ And now, this injury. Everything felt stuck.

Wood Element

The Wood Element & The Power of Liver Energy

In the Five Element system, Liver is the Yin organ of the Wood Element.

Its Yang counterpart is the Gallbladder.

*Liver (Yin) governs planning, direction, and the smooth flow of energy (Qi) and blood.

*Gallbladder (Yang) is the decision-maker, giving us clarity and courage to move forward.

Physically, the Liver:

Filters toxins

Supports hormone metabolism

Nourishes tendons and ligaments

Affects eye health

Energetically, the Liver:

Governs frustration and anger

Influences our ability to see clearly — both literally and metaphorically

Gets blocked when emotions are repressed

When the Gallbladder is imbalanced, it leads to indecision, hesitation, self-doubt, and often manifests as tension in the neck and shoulders.

The Diagnosis: Triceps Tendinosis

Eventually, an MRI scan confirmed I had triceps tendinosis, a chronic degeneration of the tendon, not just inflammation.

Unlike tendinitis, which is acute, tendinosis develops over time due to repetitive strain and inadequate healing.

I consulted orthopaedics, physiotherapists, and chiropractors, and most advised surgery.

But I said no.

Why?

Because I had something else: a system that I deeply believed in.

I made a decision:

‘I’m going to heal myself. Naturally. Through the EOB System.’

Healing Protocol

My Healing Protocol for Tendon Repair and Liver Support

Here’s what I did to heal — without surgery:

1. Strengthened the Liver & Gallbladder:

*Started drinking burdock root tea

*Took a potent liver support blend with milk thistle, burdock, and dandelion

*Increased Vitamin C to therapeutic levels, critical for collagen synthesis and tendon repair

*Added lecithin, EFAs (essential fatty acids), and foods like leafy greens, beets, and cruciferous vegetables — all supportive for liver detox

2. Shifted My Movement Practice Entirely:

*Stopped all gym workouts (which was a huge shift for me)

*Transitioned to yoga, mobility work, and functional movement

*Focused on healing with patience, knowing that tendons heal slowly due to limited blood supply

Most importantly, I accepted the timeline. I didn’t rush it. I surrendered to the process.

What the Wood Element Taught Me

If you’re in a phase of life where everything feels stuck, emotionally, physically, or mentally — please know this:

It’s not happening to you. It’s happening for you.

Sometimes, what feels like a setback is really a redirection. A pause. A deeper invitation to listen.

Healing doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes, it comes from doing less, and truly listening to your body and soul.

What I Gained Because of My Injury

That injury led to two beautiful gifts:

1. Adventure Riding:

I had never ridden a motorcycle before. But one day, something in me said: Do it.

So I bought a British three-cylinder superbike — and took off.

Since then, I’ve been on over 10 long rides across Bharat — exploring rural landscapes, connecting with nature, and discovering the beauty of my own country.

2. Functional Fitness:

For over two decades, I was a ‘gym guy.’

But now?

I haven’t done a single conventional gym movement in over two years.

Instead, I train with kettlebells, maces, sandbags, and a deep yoga practice.

Letting go of that identity, the guy who lifted heavy at all costs, allowed me to evolve into a more functional, grounded version of myself.

Final Thoughts

Healing Is an Inner Journey

So many of the best things in my life happened because I got injured.

Sometimes, the door closes, because another, better one is waiting.

Whatever you’re going through, good or bad, it’s part of a larger plan.

You’re allowed to feel stuck.

You’re allowed to pause.

You’re allowed to begin again.

And you are absolutely capable of healing, from the inside out.
