If you have accepted that bloating, brain fog, headaches, or sneezing every morning is simply how life is, that is fine. Most people live exactly like that.
But that is not healthy.
That is just surviving. Not thriving.
In this article, I am going to give you 3 daily habits of people who almost never get sick — people who genuinely thrive.
Surviving vs. Thriving: Which Zone Are You In?
There is a big difference between simply surviving and genuinely thriving.
One is sub-optimal health, denoted by the Orange Zone.
The other is thriving signified by the Green Zone.
Imagine a state of health where you wake up fresh with abundant energy, without needing coffee to literally wake you up. You may still drink coffee because you enjoy it, not because you need it to function.
Your digestion is smooth. No constant bloating or excessive gas.
Your thinking is clear like a laser. You are present in your meetings, with your partner, and with your kids.
If you truly want this state of health and vitality, keep reading.
Everything Starts With Your Nervous System
Here is the truth most people never quite grasp:
Everything in your body is driven by your nervous system.
You have probably heard people talk about good vibes or vibrating at a higher frequency.
Let me translate that into actual biology.
Your “frequency” is the state of your nervous system.
When you live in fear, anger, or chronic stress, your nervous system can become stuck in fight-or-flight.
You are flooded with cortisol.
And chronic cortisol can negatively affect immune function.
I have discussed cortisol graphs in Video 2, so make sure to watch that after this to understand the topic in greater detail.
You can eat all the broccoli you want.
You can lift weights six days a week.
But if your internal state is chronically stressed, your overall resilience can suffer.
When your nervous system is calm and balanced, your body is better positioned to support a healthy immune response.
The EMPOWER Health Pyramid
Consider the EMPOWER Health Pyramid.
It has seven levels, with each one building on the level below it.
You cannot build a solid second floor on a cracked foundation.
The sequence matters.
Level one – the base of the entire pyramid – is the nervous system.
Not nutrition.
Not hormones.
The nervous system first.
Because so many processes – including digestion, hormones, energy, and mental clarity – are influenced by this foundational system.
Over the past five years, more than two lakh students have enrolled in my foundational health courses.
My latest course – the EMPOWER Health Pyramid – is free for a limited time.
It contains seven to ten short videos, with each video explaining a foundational level of the pyramid in simple, practical terms.

3 Habits of People Who Almost Never Get Sick
Personally, I cannot remember the last time I got sick.
These three habits are the reason.
Start with whichever one excites you most. You may begin to notice a difference within a week.
Habit 1 – Fiercely Protect Your Gut
The people who rarely get sick are the ones who fiercely protect their gut.
Your gut and immune system are closely connected.
One important component is GALT – Gut-Associated Lymphoid Tissue.
People who rarely get sick do not simply eat for their muscles.
They eat for their microbes.
They focus on real, whole foods that support the gut environment and gut barrier.
They also avoid excessive processed foods and other dietary patterns that may negatively affect gut health.
I have an entire gut health playlist on this channel, so check that out if you want to go deeper into this subject.
Habit 2 – Actively Downregulate Your Nervous System
People who rarely get sick do not stay in fight-or-flight all day.
They have a deliberate practice of bringing themselves back into a parasympathetic, resting state.
They activate their vagus nerve daily, consciously or unconsciously.
And they prioritise deep, restorative sleep.
This matters because your nervous system is not supposed to remain in a constant state of high alert.
You need periods of recovery and downregulation.
The goal is not to eliminate stress from your life.
The goal is to build the ability to come back to a calmer state.
Habit 3 – Monitor Like a Hawk
This is one of the most important habits:
Monitor. Like a hawk.
Your brain is like a GPS.
Give it precise coordinates and it will move toward them like a ship’s rudder steady, efficient, and accurate.
Here is an example.
Say you want to optimize your nervous system.
One important biomarker to start with is your morning cortisol.
The functional range discussed in this framework is 18–22.
If your number comes back at 15, for example, you now have a target.
Your brain has something specific to move toward.
And this is where the loop begins:
Monitor → Awareness → Action
Start monitoring anything you want to improve.
- Your weight
- Your fasting insulin
- Your testosterone
Anything.
Monitoring creates awareness. Awareness drives action.mConsistent action produces results.
It really is that simple.
Know Your Numbers
People who rarely get sick are people who know their numbers.
Their biomarkers.
If you are over the age of 35, get a comprehensive blood panel at least once a year.
And don’t simply rely on the most basic panel.
If you want to know more about the specific health biomarkers that should be part of your blood test panel, comment “EMPOWER” below to get access to the EMPOWER Health Pyramid course.
There, you will find details about which numbers you should consider getting tested.
The 3 Habits to Remember
So, what are the three habits of people who almost never get sick?
- Protect your gut.
- Downregulate your nervous system.
- Monitor your numbers.
You do not necessarily need a new diet.
You do not necessarily need another supplement.
You need to stop treating symptoms and start reading the signals your body has been sending you all along.
That is the shift from simply surviving to genuinely thriving.

8. What is the Monitor → Awareness → Action loop?
It is a simple framework: monitoring creates awareness, awareness drives action, and consistent action produces results.
9. What morning cortisol range is mentioned in the video?
The functional range discussed in the framework is 18–22. For example, if your morning cortisol comes back at 15, the number gives you a specific target to investigate and work toward.
10. How often should people over 35 get a comprehensive blood panel?
The video recommends getting a comprehensive blood panel at least once a year after the age of 35.
